West Ham Vs Arsenal – Match Report

Before now, all the stories emanating from the Betway  stadium hovered around the future of star striker, Marko Arnautovic. One would expect him to show his loyalty to the club by putting one past Berd Leno’s net.

It was however Declan Rice who took the day. Oh wait. Let’s take a chill pill and discuss events before then.

Showman Arnautovic had dyed his hair coming into this one. However, his impact wouldn’t count much, at least not in the final third.

Alex Iwobi played Alexandre Lacazette onside with the forward trying a shot at goal. A goal didn’t seem likely however as Lukasz Fabianski was on hand to save the ball.

As if that wasn’t enough, Guendouzi’s shot just flew wide of the post after a clean sweep of passes between Iwobi and Sead Kolasinac didn’t end well.

Who do we turn to at this stage, the fans must have asked. Mesut Ozil wasn’t even allowed a space on the bench. A bench that had three fullbacks and a teenager, Nketiah who has never started a Premier League game for Arsenal. £350,000 a week was in the bin.

On the flip side, it was Felipe Anderson and Declan who were the mastermind of the next series of events as they kept pressing Arsenal’s defence hard. However, the first 45 minutes were not enough to string good results.

West Ham came into the second half on the front foot knowing they were only inches close to getting the first goal. They were on hand to string beautiful passes, vertical, diagonal, you name it. Consequently, it didn’t take long before they had the ball at the back of the net following a poor show of defending from the gunners. At the 48th minute, the magic was done, 1-0 in favour of the hammers

Emery responded by introducing Xhaka and Ramsey but that didn’t prove enough. The Gunners were going down in this one.

What a beautiful game it was. West ham 1-0 Arsenal.
