“Wole Soyinka Isn’t The Greatest Living Nigerian Writer, Beyoncé Never Quoted Him” – Film Producer, Editi Effiong
Nigerian film producer, Editi Effiong stated in a new post that Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka isn’t the greatest living writer because Beyoncé never quoted him.
He also wrote that a Nobel Prize currently have little impact and relevance on the current generation compared to Beyoncé’s impact.
In his words; “Just had a weird moment when someone said, “Wole Soyinka is the greatest living Nigerian writer” and my internal loyalty disagreed because Beyoncé never quoted WS.”
He added; “Generational relevance has an outsized impact in perceptions of greatness. The Nobel Prize had huge relevance on my parents’ generation. For the generation after mine, Beyoncé has bigger impact.”

Thus, as a brand, whether or not you (an obviously older generation) think WS is the greatest Nigerian writer of all time (subjective), it’s important to recognise that CNA has higher cultural relevance to the GenZ you’re trying to market to, and adjust accordingly.

I didn’t say your hero isn’t a hero abi Great legend o. I said his cultural relevance to the GenZ is less than that of CNA. Now you’re all angry.
