The Death of Senator Joseph Kennedy Waku was announced yesterday by his family.

According to the report, the late Senator passed away at the age of 73.

Sen. Joseph Kennedy Waku was a native of Benue state and was in the National Assembly between the year 1999 to 2003 under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

The Speaker of the House of Reps, Hon. Yakubu has reacted to the death of the late Sen. Waku.

Hon. Yakubu Dogara in his statement described the late Senator as a fine gentleman and patriot who solidly believed in the unity of the country.

He disclosed that the elder statesman was part of the great men who contributed to the development of Nigeria and Democracy.

Hon. Dogara added that the late Sen. Waku always stood for the truth and was always ready to fight for the interest of common people.

Below is a statement released by the Speaker of the House of Reps, Hon. Yakubu Dogara,

” I recall that during his sojourn at the National Assembly where he represented Benue North West senatorial District at the start of the Fourth Republic, the late Waku distinguished himself as a parliamentarian who at every opportunity identified with the ordinary man and the downtrodden in the society. He was always mindful of his duties, the wellbeing of the people he represented and the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria”.

” We have, indeed, lost a man of courage, a respected elder statesman and great leader who spent greater part of his life in the service of the people and left behind a legacy of honour”.

“My deepest condolences to the bereaved family as well as the government and people of Benue state over this great loss”.
