Yaya Toure Retires At 35 | Ready To Continue In Coaching Capacity

Former Manchester City and Barcelona player, Yaya Toure has announced his retirement from playing but not from football as he is set to pick up a coaching role.

This announcement was made by the 35-yr-old’s agent, Dimitri Seluk who said that the former Ivorian International arrived at the decision after his contract with Greek giants, Olympiacos was terminated in December.

Seluk said that Yaya Toure has decided to end his career as a champion and that the farewell match Manchester City gave him was indeed the real end of his career not only in that team but in general.

“The farewell match which Manchester City gave him was, in principle, the real end of his playing career, not only in that team, but in general.

He also went on to say that Yaya is one of the brightest stars from Africa and had one of the brightest careers in the history of African football and that it was only normal that he left football at the peak.

“Yaya is one of the best players in Africa and had one of the brightest careers in the history of African football, so should leave football at its peak. We talked for a long time on this topic”

He added that it was only normal for players to want to keep on playing and that Toure was physically fit and able to carry on for the next five years.

“Of course every footballer wants to play as long as possible and in terms of his physical condition Yaya could do this at a sufficiently high level for another five years.”

The Ivorian made 316 appearances for the Citizens, scoring 79 goals, winning three PL titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups.

Selcuk said he was sure that once Yaya Toure gets a Pro Coaching License he would head one of the serious clubs and turn out to be successful in his coaching career.
