You Need to Apologise Now to Oshiomhole, former Edo Attorney General Tells Obaseki

  • Says the okro is never bigger than the planter, and the farmer.
  • Reminds Shuaibu that he is no longer in the House of Assembly.

Former Attorney General Commissioner for Justice in Edo State, Henry Idahagbon, has advised the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, and the governor, Godwin Obaseki, to apologize to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

In an interview with Punch, he said both of them need to do so because the okro is never bigger than the planter, and the farmer.

Speaking on the crisis rocking the state’s APC and the lingering feud between the Governor and his political godfather, Idahagbon, said all involved are nothing but for the mandate of the people.

“Both of them are our stewards, they are our servants elected by us. The party elects them so they cannot be bigger than the party and they cannot go to the national chairman’ house to humiliate him or go to his village to go and get crowd to boo the national chairman is anti-party; so they should apologise first to the national chairman and thereafter to the party. That is the minimum we expect of them between now and the next seven days.

Idahagbon, who is an associate of Oshiomhole, said as an Edo man, Saturday’s incident at the Iyamoh home of the APC National Chairman is a sad situation.

” I feel unfortunate at what played out at Iyamoh during the convocation of Edo State University. I feel scandalised that our deputy governor turned himself to the President of the Iyamoh Okada Riders Association. I feel humiliated that the serving deputy governor of a state when he is not on a campaign tour or campaign rally will sit on a motorbike with a helmet on his head, and about 200 motorbikes will follow him behind.

“Philip Shaibu should choose between being a deputy governor and an Okada rider because I think he is better of being an Okada rider than being a deputy governor. He is the warmonger in this government; he is the person responsible for the escalation of hostilities in our party. We have always known that he has a tendency for violence, and he has a violent disposition.

“Recall that when he was in the House of Assembly, his leg was broken and he had to go to Dubai because he fought on the floor of the state House of Assembly. But now he should realise that he is no longer a member of the state House of Assembly; he is the deputy governor of our state.

He also pointed that Governor Obaseki is not a violent man person even though the still water has run deep.

“We believe that all the violence being perpetrated by this government is the handiwork of Shaibu and … Ogie, the Secretary to the State Government. So as an indigene of Edo I feel scandalised and I am asking both Shaibu and Obaseki to apologise to the party and to the national chairman of the party.

“We have given them seven days ultimatum. If they fail to apologise to the party, then we may now look at sanctions against them because they are not bigger than the party. “
