The United Kingdom via a statement made by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing has urged Nigerians to protect the country’s Democracy by going out to vote tomorrow for the 2019 Presidential Election.

Catriona Lain urged Nigerians not to be disappointed by the postponed election but instead move out to exercise their franchise during the election.

According to the statement released by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria today, she disclosed that as a long time friend to Nigeria, the UK has deployed more than 60 election observers to 15 states across the country.

She said, “Tomorrow is polling day again; we recognise the huge disappointment of Nigerians since they woke up last Saturday to hear the news that the elections have been postponed, but your vote still counts.

“It’s your chance to make a difference; not just to vote for the politicians of your choice, but also to play your part in Nigeria’s emerging democracy; helping to consolidate the progress since 2015.

“As a long-time friend and partner in Nigeria, we will be playing our part, we will have 60+ observers in 15 states around the country observing the election.

The British Commissioner also called on the Nigerian electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to remain impartial during the election.

And, of course, it is very important that INEC remains as the impartial umpire for this election.

“So please do go out and exercise your democratic right to vote. We wish all Nigerians all the very best for the election day,” Liang added.
