Manchester United In Pole Position To Land Longstaff

Manchester United are confident that they can land Newcastle United midfielder, Sean Longstaff for a sum of £25million.

United gaffer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is looking to rebuild his team with young, hungry players for success intends to build on his capture of Daniel James from Swansea by employing the services of Sean Longstaff.

Although the Newcastle midfielder pledged his undying love and future to the Magpies, the Red devils are confident they could land the 21 year old.

With an air of uncertainty hovering over the future of Rafa Benitez at the club and an imminent proposed takeover is not thought to be an obstacle in the way of Manchester United.

The 21 year old made 11 successive starts for the Magpies last term before damaging his knee ligaments in a game against West Ham which ended his season altogether.

Despite that setback, Norwegian gaffer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks he has seen enough to make Longstaff fit into the calibre of players he wants to see plying their trade at Old Trafford.

United have thrown to the bin their policy of buying established, expensive players for signing of young, hungry, home-grown players who they could improve in the long run.

Welsh man, Daniel James also 21 was the first signing of Solskjaer this summer transfer window with the former Swansea man penning down a five year deal that would see him earn £70,000-a-week and Longstaff could well be on his way to join him.

Manchester United are also on the search for a centre back with Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire top of the priority list. The former is interested in playing for a Champions League team and might therefore not favour a move to Old Trafford while Maguire is valued at £90million.

They are also hopeful of landing Crystal Palace’s right back, Aaron Wan Bissaka despite an earlier bid of £40m rejected for the Under-21 star.
