1. INEC Announces Recruitment for 2019 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the commencement of recruitment to fill some ad-hoc positions, ahead of the forth coming general elections.

According to the electoral body, interested applicants should visit”… here

“INEC Registration Area Tech Support and Local Government Area Tech Support Ad-Hoc RECRUITMENT for the general elections is now open. Shortlisted candidate will provide Tech support at the Reg. Areas and Local Government Area,” INEC tweeted.

2. EFCC Arraigns Doyin Okupe

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arraigned Dr Doyin Okupe before the Abuja Federal High Court in Maitama.

Okupe, who is a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, was arraigned before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu on Monday in Abuja.

He was arraigned alongside two companies, Value Trust Investment Ltd and Abrahams Telecoms Ltd, over allegations of fraud.

3. Army in Gun Battle as Boko Haram Invades Rann Again

We have gathered that a heavy gun battle was going on between Nigerian troops and terrorists on Monday evening.

Suspected members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province, ISWAP, have invaded Rann, the Kala Balge LG headquarters in Borno State.

Report from Rann says, some houses were set ablaze while shooting was going on.

4. Buhari, a Sleeping President – PDP Secondus

The PDP chairman, Uche Secondus spoke on Monday evening at the MKO Democracy Park in Akure, Ondo State during PDP’s rally in the state.

He said, “Do you know why economy has collapsed? Do you know why hunger is in the land?”

He replied: “Your President Buhari is a sleeping President, he has no energy that is why the economy has collapsed, we are coming with Atiku who has energy and can work 24 hours a day not the one that would work for three years”.

5. Police Drags Senator Melaye to Court over Alleged Possession of Firearm

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has dragged Kogi-West Senator, Dino Melaye before an Abuja Federal High Court over an alleged illegal possession of firearms.

In the charge filed against the Senator, the police claimed that a pump-action gun was recovered from  residence in Kogi State residence in July 2018 during a search of the property.

6. Presidential Debate, Appear, Don’t Send Tinubu – Ohanaeze

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has charged President Buhari to be sure to attend the upcoming presidential debate.

Chuks Ibegbu, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, said Buhari must not send a proxy on his behalf.

He stated this while reacting to President Buhari’s hand over of his re-election campaign to Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the APC.

In Ibegbu’s words, “He has to come and talk to Nigerians on what he has done in the past four years and what he intends to do in the next four years, he can’t do it by proxy”.

7. I‘ll Not Take Instructions from Tinubu to Control Lagos – APC Sanwo-Olu

Governorship candidate of the APC, in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared that if elected, he will not take instructions from any high authority especially Bola Tinubu in leading Lagos.

Samwo-Olu made the revelation on Sunday, while speaking during the Platform’s governorship debate in response to a question by the PDP Jimi Agbaje, who queried the ability of Sanwo-Olu to lead the ‘Tinubu controlled state’ following his endorsement by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

He said, “I believe the question is to look at Lagosians and say I am going to be in charge, that the bulk is going to stop on his table”.

8. Ycee Officially Confirms Exits fromTinny Entertainment

Nigerian Rapper, Ycee has finally confirmed he left his former label, Tinny Entertainment which brought him into limelight.

Ycee, real name, Oludemilade Alejo disclosed this on his Twitter handle on Monday in response to a question from a fan who asked if he was still signed on to the label.

The rapper said he was officially confirming his exit from the label following speculations that he left the company since August 2018.

Ycee first came into the limelight in 2015 with his hit single, ‘Jagaban.’

9. Bishop Arrested for Fraud via Ponzi Scheme

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested founder of the Beloved Gideon Ministries and Foundation, Bishop Giniko Obi, in Benin City, for defrauding thousands of victims of sums of money running into millions of naira.

Obi, whose ministry is based in Agbor, Delta State, with branches in Bayelsa, Onitsha, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Benin City, however, denied every allegation of fraud.

He said, “We write books such as ‘24 Nuggets for Successful Living’, ‘36 Nuggets for Successful Living’, ‘48 Nuggets for Successful Living’. We organise seminars and conferences on how to be successful and tell the people to subscribe to these publications”.

“If you subscribe with N10, 800, we give you N15, 000. If you subscribe with N18, 000, we give you N23, 000. I had about 30,000 subscribers and I was paying them.”

According to him, when he left Agbor for Lagos, his plans was to expand his subscription base but his subscribers were impatient with him.

“If they had allowed me to hold the conference in Lagos, I would have paid them,” the Bishop said

10. Sixteen Feared Dead in Benin-Asaba Fatal Motor Accident

Sixteen persons have been reported dead following a fatal accident that occurred along Benin-Asaba Expressway on Saturday.

The accident involved a commercial bus with the registration number AA137 ASB.

An eyewitness, Mariam Jacob, said the incident occurred around Igbodo community, few kilometers to Onicha Ugbo village after the driver crashed into a deep pothole veered off the road leading to a somersault of the bus.

two other passengers injured were reported to have been  rushed to the federal Medical Center ( FMC) Asaba where they are currently responding to treatment, while the corpses of the sixteen dead were deposited in the FMC morgue.
