– The health issues varies from issues with tooth to high blood pressure

A new report has made it known that the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen failed to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal CCT today.

The CCT had to adjourned the case owning to the absence of Walter Onnoghen, which was said to be over health issues.

A report made it known that the counsel of the CJN, Adegboyega Awolowo tendered a letter supposedly from Walter Onnoghen which revealed he had issues with his tooth and couldn’t make it to the court.

To support the claim the Prosecutor, Umar Aliyu, disclosed that he had received a copy of letter as well which showed that suspended CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen had high blood pressure.

The Persecutor in an additional statement made it known that the health of the defendant is as important as the case on the ground and due to it, he would concede that the absence was based on medical grounds.

Umar Aliyu also urged the Code of Conduct Tribunal to consider the medical report and adjourn the case “till next week Monday or another week for a day-to-day hearing.”

The letter which was made public by his counsel showed that Walter Onnoghen was given a 72-hour bed rest.

After considering the situation on ground, the chairman of the code of conduct tribunal, Mr. Umar Danladi then adjourned the case.

According to the report, the case has now been adjourned to the 18th of March, 2018.

It should be recalled that Justice Walter Onnoghen was suspended by the Federal Government in January based on an order from the CCT over failure to declare his asset as expected under the code of conduct act.
