- Says northerners have looted the treasury over the last 59 years.
- …..Northern Christians have suffered more than any other in the hands of the Fulani over the last 59 years….
Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has replied Kaduna governor, Nasir el-Rufai that if southerners have been put in charge of Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Security (DSS), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), northerners would have been convicted.
This is in response to a comment credited to the governor who said no one from the north has ever been convicted of 419 or fraud.
“Put the EFCC, the Police and DSS in the hands of southerners and see what happens. Northerners have looted the treasury over the last 59 years of our national existence more than ANY other group of Nigerians.
He also acknowledged the statement made by the governor who stated that the north is now the centre for drug abuse, gender violence, banditry, kidnapping and terrorism.
”Nigeria consists of two countries; there is a backward, less educated and unhealthy northern Nigeria, and a developing, largely educated and healthy southern Nigeria.
“We have to speak the truth to ourselves and ask why is it that northern Nigeria has development indicators similar to Afghanistan, a country still at war?
“We have the largest number of poor people in the world, most of them in northern Nigeria. Nigeria also has the largest number of out of school children, virtually all of them in Northern Nigeria.
“Northern Nigeria has become the centre of drug abuse, gender violence, banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism. We have also been associated with a high divorce rate and breakdown of families. This is the naked truth that we have to tell ourselves,” El-Rufai said.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode concurred adding that the north is also the centre for paedophilia, racism, Islamic fundamentalism, genocide, ethnic cleansing, mass murder, religious bigotry, the burning of Churches and the persecution of Christians.
“Northern Christians have suffered more than any other in the hands of the Fulani over the last 59 years. Their subjugation is total. Everything has been taken from them. They kill them, persecute them and marginalise them all in the name of ONE Nigeria. It is pitiful and tragic,” he pointed.
